Squirrel Flats Band – The Creative Team

Squirrel Flats Band is a collaborative musical project built on the combined talents of Joan Shapiro, Aaron and Jessica Seibert, and Taylor Riley. The musicians bring decades of experience across classical performance, rock touring, composition, and professional recording.

Joan Shapiro is a visionary whose words connect the worlds of poetry and music with striking emotional clarity. As a poet, she crafts language rich with feeling and imagery, then brings together musicians to translate those words into living, resonant sound. Her leadership is less about control and more about connection—guiding collaborators to shape tangible emotional forms that give her poetry new depth and dimension through music.

Aaron Seibert is a composer, recording artist, and performing musician whose career spans touring rock stages, orchestral and choral performance—including an appearance at Carnegie Hall—and extensive work as a composer and recording artist. His creative approach blends emotional storytelling with musical depth, drawing from experiences performing alongside major acts such as Godsmack, Days of the New, Everclear, and many more, while also maintaining strong ties to the classical world as a baritone with the Western Colorado Chorale.

Jessica Seibert is a versatile violinist, composer and educator whose work bridges classical orchestral excellence with the expressive power of contemporary rock violin. A full-time violinist with the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and former Concertmaster of the Colorado Mesa University Orchestra, she brings both technical mastery and creative energy to performances that span traditional concert stages and amplified modern ensembles.

Guiding the project’s sound is producer-engineer, and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Riley, owner of Fusion Audio Solutions in Grand Junction, Colorado. With more than 25 years of recording and performance experience, he has worked with hundreds of artists and contributed to film, television, and broadcast productions. A member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs), his work combines technical precision with a deep understanding of live musicianship.

Together, the team brings a rare blend of classical training, rock performance energy, and studio craftsmanship, shaping recordings that move seamlessly between orchestral, contemporary, and Americana-influenced soundscapes.
